 About the Landmark

Built between 1853 and 1854 by architect John S. Norris for Judge Thomas P. Price,  Meadow Garden

 is a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture. It was one of Augusta’s most elegant homes and

 became an important center for community and cultural gatherings.                                                         

 Historic Significance

The Price family and later the Stoops family played important roles in Augusta’s history.                       

                                Meadow Garden was home to the publishers of The Christian Index, the Meadow Garden                                                    

                 Meadow Garden Augusta, Georgia South’s oldest continuously published religious newspaper.

                  The gardens are renowned for their beauty and historic design, featuring boxwood hedges, camellias                    

                          azaleas, heritage roses, and one of the finest examples of formal gardens in the Southeastern United States.
