Pair and test a PlayStation-compatible controller before racing.
PlayStation Controller Connection Test and Button Map
Choose Bluetooth or USB, complete the connection steps, then press X, the D-pad, triggers, or move a stick.
Bluetooth wireless setup
- Disconnect any USB cable and turn the controller off.
- PS4 DUALSHOCK 4: hold SHARE + PS until the light bar flashes.
- PS5 DualSense or DualSense Edge: hold CREATE + PS until the light bar flashes.
- Windows: open Settings → Bluetooth & devices. Mac: open System Settings → Bluetooth. Select the controller.
- Return here and press X or move a stick to verify game input.
Important: The PS button by itself is not the official first-time Bluetooth pairing command for PS4 or PS5 controllers.
USB wired setup
- Use a cable that supports data and charging. A charge-only cable will not send game controls.
- PS4 DUALSHOCK 4 uses a compatible Micro-USB data cable. PS5 DualSense/DualSense Edge uses a compatible USB-C data cable.
- Plug the controller directly into the Windows PC or Mac. Press the PS button once if the computer does not detect it automatically.
- Return here and press X or move a stick to verify game input.
The controller pairs with the Bluetooth radio built into the PC or Mac motherboard, or with a compatible USB Bluetooth adapter. The operating system controls that pairing.
Compatibility: PS4 DUALSHOCK 4 and PS5 DualSense/DualSense Edge have official Bluetooth and USB computer support. PS1 and PS2 controllers need a compatible USB adapter because they do not contain built-in Bluetooth. PS3 controller support depends on the operating system, driver, adapter, and browser, so it cannot be guaranteed.
How the motherboard connection works: the controller talks to the computer’s built-in Bluetooth radio through Windows or macOS. After the operating system pairs it, the browser receives standard game-controller input through the Gamepad API. WordPress does not directly control the motherboard Bluetooth chip.
The red/green light shown here is the game’s on-screen test indicator. It stays red until real controller input reaches the browser, then turns green. The website cannot force the controller’s physical light to red or green and cannot bypass Windows or macOS Bluetooth security.
